About Loops & Lacquer

Loops & Lacquer is a home for two crafts that don’t usually share a page: nail design and crochet. If you love scrolling for the next set of nails to try, or you’re hunting for a pattern that won’t leave you frogging half your yarn, you’re in the right place.

What you’ll find here

Nail art is the main focus — seasonal designs, easy at-home techniques, dip and gel-polish tips, and inspiration boards for everything from short natural nails to statement press-ons. Crochet is our second love: beginner-friendly patterns, amigurumi, wearables, and the occasional yarn-and-hook rant about tension.

Both crafts share the same DNA: they’re small, repeatable acts of making something pretty. That’s the whole point of this site.

Who it’s for

This is for anyone who likes making things by hand, whether you’ve been doing your own nails for years or you just bought your first crochet hook. Tutorials are written to be followed by beginners, but there’s enough detail and nuance in here for people who already know their way around a bottle of polish or a skein of yarn.

Our promise: tested before it’s shared

Every design, every pattern, every technique posted on Loops & Lacquer has been tried by hand first — painted, stitched, photographed, and adjusted — before it goes up. If a pattern is confusing on paper, we rework the instructions until they actually make sense when you’re sitting down with a hook in your hand. If a nail look doesn’t photograph the way it wears, we say so.

How this content is made

Posts are written and curated by a real person (hi, that’s Sadie — more on the About Sadie page) who tests the techniques and patterns featured here. Some posts are inspiration round-ups pulling from trends we’re seeing and loving; others are original step-by-step tutorials. We’re upfront about which is which.

Editorial standards

  • No design or pattern is recommended without it being tried first.
  • Difficulty levels are described honestly — we don’t call something “beginner” if it isn’t.
  • Sources and inspiration are credited where they’re known.
  • Posts are updated when techniques, products, or information change.
  • We correct mistakes quickly when readers point them out — see our Editorial Policy for details.
